A prominent Charlotte NC Indian American family is shaken up when the highly socially anticipated arranged marriage for their eldest daughter falls through very publicly, humiliating the parents and grandparents more than the jilted bride. Hoping to save face they hire an established matchmaker with dismal results. The two Kapoor sisters-in-law, highly connected and fixtures in the community, have attended hundreds of weddings for the children of their friends and feel that it’s their turn to shine. What to do? They want their children married. The youngest daughter—a free spirit with zero filter, dubious life skills, and an uncertain career is convinced that she can parlay her social media influencer platform into a matchmaking career. To prove her point—and find her beloved siblings and cousins the match of their dreams–she publicly boasts that she will have her two sisters and elusive, dreamy, golden boy cousin matched and married within the year. No one takes Rani Kapoor seriously. They never have, but she’s used to being told no or worse, ignored and then plowing ahead with whatever vague scrap of a plan she slaps together.

She needs a doctoral dissertation topic. Why not research how to find the perfect love match? She has unwilling but captive research subjects, but Rani knows them well, and with charm, persistence, science and dumb luck, Rani just might stumble into finding everyone their soul mate and herself a new career.
